It's been too long since I posted. No excuses, it just has. Jeremy and I have been swamped with life in general. School seems to be taking up so much time and we've had some sickness. Those dang kids with their new school year germs.
We are off to the beach today for a little getaway with family. I could really use the relaxation. I can feel the stress in my lower back. I'm hoping to take some walks in the sand and sit and watch the waves roll in. Sounds nice doesn't it?
I'm proud to announce that my brother-in-law Josh is in a relationship! We are so happy for him. I couldn't be more thrilled. Congratulations Josh!

Survived
We survived the first week. How many more to go? It really wasn't that bad, but I hate when school starts on a Monday. It was nice being back around other people at school and not going from house to house or daycare to daycare. I really felt like I helped some people this week and that always feels good.
Jeremy has 2 out of 3 classes that are good. Second period is the one to watch. He is in his new classroom with all his new technology and life is much better. He graduate class started this week and his only comment was "It's going to be a lot of work." We haven't really discussed the details yet.
Noah had a regular week except his granddaddy came to visit. Always spoiling him with attention, lunches out, and toys. I think it is great. I've come to really appreciate the grandparent role. I love my grandmother but she was all I had. Noah is truly blessed to have multiple grandparents who actively play with him and more importantly love him. Often after spending time with his extended family, Noah will say "I love my family." Just out of the blue. He cried yesterday when granddaddy had to go back to Wilmington, but I think it was more painful for granddaddy. In fact, I am confident it was.

It's here...
School. Summer is offically over. We are all pretty depressed around 153 Deep Run Dr. Tomorrow is the first day for me and Jeremy. I hope I can keep my schedule to 4 days a week, but that is still up in the air. I may just have to start a waiting list.
Jeremy has been working non-stop, even on his optional workday Friday. He took the day off on Friday just so he could sit at home and do his paperwork. I really don't think people understand what teachers go through at the start of school or on a daily basis. The beginning of school always starts with tons of anxiety and WORK. Poor Jeremy has been working all weekend on lesson plans and information required by the administrators at his school- all while battling another kidney stone. He has to plan the whole semester, what topic on which day. All that for 3 different courses. We didn't go to church today because of his kidney stone acting up, and yet he still sits at his desk plugging along at all this work. He was doing the same thing at 11:00 pm last night and the night before. It's just too much. I think his laptop is glued to his lap sometimes. But boy do teachers get paid the big bucks, with tons of vacation! I mean what is Jeremy doing. All his has to do is just stand in front of 25 students for 3 classess and teach. That's nothing.
It truly is a shame that the general population and sometimes even our own family members just don't understand. But I guarantee that those same people what their children to have teachers who sit up until 11:00 pm working to be the best teacher he can be, rather than the alternative-not caring.

Poor, poor pitiful me

Poor, poor Noah. I've never felt so bad for him as I did today. We went for his 4 year old well check with Dr. Lee at Pamlico Pediatrics. We love her but we didn't love what she had in store for us. She wanted to go ahead and do Noah's Kindergarten shots while we were there. This blind-sighted me and freaked Noah out. I had not prepared either of us for the potential of shots, especially not FOUR! She even wanted to take blood.
Noah started crying and screaming with the finger prick. Then the word shot put him over his limit. I had to hold his arms across his chest, push my whole body against his legs and pray very hard. It was like trying to control a bucking bull. His whole body was writhing while he screamed at the top of his lungs "But I don't want a shot!!" Tears were streaming down his face. Both our shirts were wet and he had the snubs for 15 minutes after we left. I was exhausted. When we got home, Noah insisted that his shirt come off. I think he just wanted to look at his Spiderman bandaids.
It was awful, just plain awful.

Busted!
Please pray for Jeremy. He had lithotripsy at the hospital yesterday to bust the big kidney stone he had in his right kidney. His doctor said that he was able to break the stone apart very well and Jeremy was able to receive the shock waves at the highest frequency. In the recovery room, he was in a lot of pain and they almost wouldn't give him any pain medicine. At the hospital! The nurse even contemplated sending us home with the prescription for pain medicine. It was craziness. Jeremy wanted to leave so badly that he started lying to the nurse about how he felt. I really couldn't blame him. It was awful. I've never seen nurses move so slowly in my life. I hope he never has to go through this ever again.

Biscuit boys
My boys fixed some biscuits tonight to take to my mom's house for dinner. Jeremy learned to cook biscuits this week from his father. We gave them a lesson on how to cook shrimp and they taught us how to cook biscuits. While Jeremy and Noah were mixing the dough, Noah decided to give it a taste, like when I make a cake or cookies. Needless to say, the flour and lard mixture was not as delicious as he would expect. The biscuits turned out beautifully and were the hit of the dinner.

Been a while...
Yes, it's been a while. All my friends out there have started blogging and I feel the pressure! So I'm going to give it another try.
We spent the weekend in South Carolina with Jeremy's family. It was a very nice visit. Noah has turned into quite the fisherman. On Friday morning he caught 9 fish and Saturday afternoon- 19! His Pa was a big help with the fishing, but I was so proud of how much Noah did on his own. He even helped put the fish in the bucket once Pa got them off the hook. We of course threw all the fish back in the pond, they were just too little to keep.

Noah slept a couple hours on the trip back to Pamlico. We have the drive shortened to about 6 1/2 hours with a couple of stops along the way. It isn't too bad, but of course we wish that the drive was shorter. I'm sure Pa and Nanny do too.
We are all hesitately anticipating the new school year. Jeremy has a new classroom and technology in his room. He is thrilled about all the new stuff, but always anxious about the new students. He is starting his 11th year in teaching. I just can't believe it. His graduate classes start next week. He has class 2 nights a week. He and I will be glad when this graduate degree is behind us. I'm nervous about the new year as well. I have signed a bigger contract with Pamlico County Schools, which means many more students on my caseload. I pray that I haven't gotten too far over my head. I'm just nervous that I won't get enough "Noah-time" like I have over the past 3 years. I'm just going to have to really try to balance all my responsibilities. Noah has one more year of preschool, so I need to take advantage of every minute.
